ISO 13485 Certification
October 2, 2009 - Hedy Canada is pleased to announce the successful completion of their International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13485:2003 & CMDCAS recertification by independent auditor Paul Murgatroyd of Intertek. The extensive and arduous recertification process is mandated by Health Canada at three-year intervals to ensure that appropriate Health and Safety measures are being implemented and maintained across the organization. Hedy Canada not only met Health Canada’s requirements, but exceeded them. According to Murgatroyd, Hedy Canada employs “a high level of commitment from personnel at all levels towards maintenance of the quality system” and has an “enhanced process for analysis of quality issues, identification of adverse trends and implementation of corrective actions where appropriate.”
Brian Brandon, Quality Assurance Manager at Hedy Canada, was not surprised by Murgatroyd’s glowing review. Brandon explained: “There is a corporate philosophy that pervades the entire organization. From top to bottom there is a consistent emphasis on quality, process improvement and accountability.”
Nowhere is the commitment to these values more apparent than in Hedy Canada’s customer service policy. “Our goal is to make sure our customers walk away with the best possible impression of Hedy Canada,” said Sean Whitley, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We achieve this by making sure each and every complaint is handled quickly and efficiently, while keeping the customer in the loop throughout the entire process.”
No wonder, then, that Murgatroyd noted a “strong focus on customer satisfation” as part of his official audit report. Summarized Brandon: “The quality systems that we have in place enable both a high level of product quality and a continuous feedback loop between Hedy Canada and the end user. This is essential to our mission of continuous product improvement.”
Hedy Canada completed and passed their ISO 13485 audit with no reservations on October 2, 2009.
Hedy Canada Launches N95 SoftMask
October 1, 2009 - With the H1N1 flu virus and other serious airborne illnesses becoming a large risk to infection control, a
n increasing amount of people are requiring better barrier protection. In particular, the effectiveness of facemasks have become a focus of attention. Due to the increased level of protection sought after across all industries, Hedy Canada has launched it's first N95 SoftMask Respirator. This premium facemask is effective against many more airborne viruses than a traditional facemask. The Centre for Disease Control has made the following comments regarding the use of facemasks:
Facemasks may be considered for use by individuals who enter crowded settings, both to protect their nose and mouth from other people's coughs and to reduce the wearers' likelihood of coughing on others; the time spent in crowded settings should be as short as possible. www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/masks.htm
Hedy encourages all customers to place their SoftMask N95 orders as soon as possible as supply is limited and demand has increased significantly due to the H1N1 flu virus.
